Romeo (DSH White/Caramel) and Mochi (DMH Black) are shy guys who have warmed up a lot over the past few months. They currently live with their foster’s partner, his parents, various teenagers who are doing Homestays here in Ottawa, and their pet cat, Mini (who runs the show). Romeo has gone from barely letting his fosters touch him, to following them all around and meowing to be picked up! Mochi has gone from hissing and avoiding them, to being in the same room as them (and even playing with stick toys!) Mochi WILL let them pet him while he’s eating. These are two very different cats, but they have a very special bond. They look for each other a few times a day so that they can groom each other and have a little wrestle. They chase each other around the house each morning and evening. Both cats love watching Cat TV and bathing in the sun. His fosters are working to teach Romeo to be gentle with his claws, but he’s not great about retracting them during play and snuggles (therefore not ideal for kids).
*Medical considerations: Momo is on a speciality diet. He is currently eating Hills Prescription Diet I/D (Digestive Care) wet and dry food.
*Momo and Mochi are available for adoption to an adult-only home with a quiet and calm environment with adopters who are willing to continue their socialization.
The Avery Foundation is a foster-based rescue that helps stray cats and dogs in need in and around the Ottawa area. All our cats and dogs that are adopted out are spayed/neutered and have had their core vaccinations. Our adoption process involves an application; reference checks, interview and home visit prior to placement – this usually takes a few days to complete. If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at: https://www.theaveryfoundation.ca/adoption/adoption-application/cats/
